Who Am I To Judge?

FROM THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH:
1786 Faced with a moral choice, conscience can make either a right judgment in accordance with reason and the divine law or, on the contrary, an erroneous judgment that departs from them.
1787 Man is sometimes confronted by situations that make moral judgments less assured and decision difficult. But he must always seriously seek what is right and good and discern the will of God expressed in divine law.
1788 To this purpose, man strives to interpret the data of experience and the signs of the times assisted by the virtue of prudence, by the advice of competent people, and by the help of the Holy Spirit and his gifts.
1789 Some rules apply in every case:
– One may never do evil so that good may result from it;
– the Golden Rule: “Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them.”56
– charity always proceeds by way of respect for one’s neighbor and his conscience: “Thus sinning against your brethren and wounding their conscience . . . you sin against Christ.”57 Therefore “it is right not to . . . do anything that makes your brother stumble.”58

We are faced with a moral choice today; to accept homosexuality or not. But is it really that simple?

We are faced with a moral choice today; to accept homosexuality or not. But is it really that simple?
First of all, when faced with this, we must take heed to 1789 from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, that help us make a good decision based on good conscience and what is truly right and just.
“Some rules apply in every case:
– One may never do evil so that good may result from it;
– the Golden Rule: “Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them.”56
– charity always proceeds by way of respect for one’s neighbor and his conscience: “Thus sinning against your brethren and wounding their conscience . . . you sin against Christ.”57 Therefore “it is right not to . . . do anything that makes your brother stumble.”58”
Now, let us ask ourselves these questions when pondering whether or not to accept homosexuality..
1. Is it “doing evil so that good may result from it” ?
Let us look at the facts: ” (2331) God is love and in himself he lives a mystery of personal loving communion. Creating the human race in his own image . . .. God inscribed in the humanity of man and woman the vocation, and thus the capacity and responsibility, of love and communion.”115 2334 “In creating men ‘male and female,’ God gives man and woman an equal personal dignity.”119 “Man is a person, man and woman equally so, since both were created in the image and likeness of the personal God.”120 The union of man and woman in marriage is a way of imitating in the flesh the Creator’s generosity and fecundity: (2335). 2347 The virtue of chastity blossoms in friendship. It shows the disciple how to follow and imitate him who has chosen us as his friends,134 who has given himself totally to us and allows us to participate in his divine estate. Chastity is a promise of immortality.
Chastity is expressed notably in friendship with one’s neighbor. Whether it develops between persons of the same or opposite sex, friendship represents a great good for all. It leads to spiritual communion.”

Homosexuality takes the Marriage act and is used, not by one man and one woman as we were created for, and as God intended it to be for, but two men or two women. It is therefore not able to bear fruit, it does not “imitate, in the flesh, the Creator’s generosity and fecundity.

It has no point but pleasure. It is not the giving of oneself in love, in an act of giving, to make way for new life, from GOD. It is not what God created the marriage act for. The Catechism reads:
1652 “By its very nature the institution of marriage and married love is ordered to the procreation and education of the offspring and it is in them that it finds its crowning glory.”162

Children are the supreme gift of marriage and contribute greatly to the good of the parents themselves. God himself said: “It is not good that man should be alone,” and “from the beginning [he] made them male and female”; wishing to associate them in a special way in his own creative work, God blessed man and woman with the words: “Be fruitful and multiply.” Hence, true married love and the whole structure of family life which results from it, without diminishment of the other ends of marriage, are directed to disposing the spouses to cooperate valiantly with the love of the Creator and Savior, who through them will increase and enrich his family from day to day.163
The act is not merely for pleasure; doing so for just that reason is considered, lust, because it is not self-giving, but taking. It takes advantage of the other person, for the benefit of the one taking.
All this is taking into account that the marriage act is normal. Not perverted and taken to disgusting extremes.
The Homosexual act is therefore, an act of Lust, and Lust is a sin, and the opposite of respecting the persons involved. Therefore; to take the homosexual acts and say that it is not hurting anyone, that it is LOVE and LOVE is prescribed for everyone, especially Christians, is TAKING SOMETHING EVIL AND TRYING TO MAKE SOMETHING GOOD COME FROM IT.

It is not respecting the persons involved, it is using people as pleasure-robots.

Romans 1:26-28: For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct.
#2 Offenses against chastity
2351 Lust is disordered desire for or inordinate enjoyment of sexual pleasure. Sexual pleasure is morally disordered when sought for itself, isolated from its procreative and unitive purposes.
2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. “Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action.”138 “The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose.”

For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of “the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved.”139

All this can also be wrapped up with this, “charity always proceeds by way of respect for one’s neighbor and his conscience: “Thus sinning against your brethren and wounding their conscience . . . you sin against Christ.”57 Therefore “it is right not to . . . do anything that makes your brother stumble.”58”

I do not think I need to explain this one.
Another question we can ask ourselves is, are we following the Golden Rule when it comes to respecting those who are homosexuals? “Do unto others.” ? Must we treat them as scum of the earth? Must we keep voting rights, and rights such as food stamps away from them? NO. They are human, just like us! They are male and female, created in the image and likeness of God. They deserve every respect! Who are we to judge if a person is Gay or not? Who are we to judge if they love God and do good acts? We must never judge that a person is actually committing the sins that Homosexuality is known for.
Last question:  #3 What can a person do if they feel attracted to the same sex?
You can take into account that Chastity is always an option;
Chastity and homosexuality
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.”142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

In the end; we are called, as Christians, to respect with dignity each and every human being, (whether Gay or not), but we must accept that sin is a reality, and that homosexuality is not right; the Catholic Church does not accept the act. Yet they accept the people! The Catechism speaks quite clearly on this! I repeat from the above quote:
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

 Until next time, God bless!
